CHEROGRAPHIES

“What do hands dream? What shapes can they take, what stories can they tell?”

The choreographer Andromachi Dimitriadou Lindahl transforms her hands into marionettes, into living characters who narrate their own stories.

Accompanied by known songs and music excerpts from cinema soundtracks, musicals and classical compositions, the hands star in their own narratives.

The stage is the screen, which is here transformed into a magical world of colours, sounds and dance, with the help of drawing and video art, through the collaboration of visual artist Christoforos Larkos.

The first performance of CHEROGRAPHIES took place in 1990, at a commission of the ERT channel through the Orama EPE, under the title “Cherographies – six dances for hands only”, where it was awarded the “Mention Essai” award from the 15th Festival du Film d’ Art by the Aschberg Foundation at UNESCO.

This documentation includes both old and new pieces.
