Bliss
“The breeze on my face. The warm sun behind closed eyelids. A hug. His ardour. A smile. Someone to help me. Sunday morning in bed. A cool dip in the sea. A deep breath. A glass of water. Sitting in the sun listening to the rustling of the eucalyptus tree. Not to feel pain. Dancing all night. Making love. People around a table laughing.
A day of doing nothing. Peace.”
How could one describe the state of bliss? As a holistic experience of psychosomatic euphoria, fulfilment, pleasure, relief, and beatitude? How does this experience have the power to reconcile us, even momentarily, with life’s concerns, struggles, and pains, and lead us to acceptance of our existence in the here and now?
Is bliss a chimera that drives us into an endless cycle of pursuit and repetition? Is it a material or a spiritual experience? Is it a personal or a collective condition?
And can we ever feel bliss by resisting to what we are or regardless to what’s going on around us?
Six performers take to the stage and share the experience of bliss as a condition that encompasses any challenges and difficulties, variations and approaches. They meet, intersect, coexist, confide, seek, negate. They build and share their own world of bliss with simple materials, while remaining honest, vulnerable and humanly imperfect.
