A Lost Moment

A LOST MOMENT

The image of jasmines in Emin Cizenel’s literary work “A Lost Moment” becomes a mystical symbol of time and history. The opening and closing movements of the jasmine petals evoke memories of fragrant evenings, of sounds and silences, of shared memories and moments of life.

“A Lost Moment” metaphorically refers to a synthetic duration in time. “The moment to moment” or time that is outside of memory and yet a result of it, will always be present.

So deep are the ” coded” images that we miss them in the course of our routine. The meanings that objects or smells evoke are in truth escapes in time – in the time we spend together, the moments we let ourselves go. Our attempts to freeze time are always about “ that particular moment” , like a summer evening that fades into night.

Perhaps we cannot return to a lost time, but just as we can trace the sensation through the history of a flower, we can also refer to the remembrance of social memory that is created in that “lost time”.
